what is the limit of code critique studies? Does it include website coding critics? Is there a software for corpus analysis of codes? For example, the frequent occurrences of the machine language(codes symbols) and the natural language (human language) in the name of CCS.. Since last year, you didn't respond to this my questions
I have a question for ya Waliya. What does coding mean to you?

Thank you for this topic: I want to respond to:
• How is racialized coding also gendered online?
• What is the relationship between coding, systems and expressions of racialized power? How do we identify, name, and ameliorate projects that reinforce white supremacy or racialization and racism?
Reading the thread on race and coding was like a breath of fresh air. I needed to know this, and especially valued the perspective that there can be no discussion of race, sexuality, sexual orientation, LGBTQ, feminism, or anything else without a consideration of race, racism, and other interlocking systems of oppression. Failure to do so will simply re-inscribe whiteness as normative. Also, whiteness must also be viewed as a “racial” category, and then critically examined for the ways in which it is able to infiltrate every aspect of our culture, and especially coding & technology.
Please, I entreat you to make your discussion more explicit for I am new to CCS. I will be very happy to learn how to be creative with coding.
Hi Waliya -- we have corrected your name on the Participants list -- thank you for pointing it out.
Hello! My name is Kris Purzycki, a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee where I also serve as the intern in our Digital Humanities Lab. My dissertation project is a look at how we acquire a sense of place within computer games and digital environments. Although I had initially wanted to integrate CCS into this project, I couldn't manage to fit it all in...
I've been an amateur programmer since being exposed to BASIC in grade school. I continued dabbling in C and VB in the early 2000s but have had little chance to make coding a part of my discipline. My background in graphic design, however, has allowed me to somewhat keep up with HTML. Despite this shortcoming (or maybe because of this), I still get the same youthful sense of wonder whenever I engage with computer programming.
Looking forward to working with everyone!
